Catalonia is not a sovereign country (and also Galicia) and must be removed from the country list...If you respect spanish political Sovereignty...

Who claimed it is a sovereign country???? The country list is a list in a database of a CHESS SITE, NOT the united nations. It is a list based on a cultural, historical, and requested list of nations that members of chess.com have requested. You are the one demanding from a united states privately owned website that it remove from it's database the name of a nation. Who gave you.... a citizen of Spain, sovereignty over a united states business to demand that it remove a name from it's database?

cultural and historical applications give me the right ...

good luck trying to enforce it

There are a few simple rules for posting on Chess.com.

#1 - Respect others. Do not be mean.

#2 - No profanity, swearing, or inappropriate language or topics.

#3 - No religious or political debate or commentary in these forums. Religion and politics are important and deeply personal, but Chess.com is a friendly community where we come together around a common love for chess and debating these two topics tend to pull people apart. If you would like to discuss religion or politics, you may want to join this group =>Open Discussion Group.

Last question:

Will you give a Texas flag " ased on a cultural, historical, and requested list of nations that members of chess.com have requested "...

  Yes or Not ?

I am not quite sure what your words mean. They are not grammatically correct. Either way, I want to thank you for one thing.... you have inspired me to proudly change my profile flag to Catalonia! Thank you for that. With each post you make you will further inspire my efforts in the appropriate forums (the Open Discussion group allows for political discussions that are forbidden in these forums) to have other people proudly choose this flag. Laughing

Ok go to your Psychotherapy...

Cystem_Phailure

If chess.com wanted to conform with the sovereign UN member states list they would also have to get rid of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.  And they would have to get rid of one or the other of Great Britain (95,440 registered members) and the United Kingdom (79,321 members).

And you know what?  It just doesn't matter.  Same with Catalonia.

txemali

Maybe doesnt matter with you as you are an American citizen. Let us deal with our issues...

-X-

And let chess.com deal with theirs.

That's exactly what you need to do.  Deal with it.

Tbh it seems you are the only one with issues.

Cool

erik

we aren't an official repository for defining countries or nations.

we allow people to choose their identity and offer as many options as reasonable. sometimes this causes problems when there are disputed countries. but we aren't picking sides - we're a chess site trying to make people happy. we encourage people to resolve their differences in the appropriate political venues, not on our site.

enjoy!

Calm down, you are overreacting. And I haven't seen many (or any) other people complain about things like this, as there are many places that aren't countries on the list.

I think they should get rid of all nationalities because aren't we all children of the UNiverse...? Everyone should leave chess.com until then..!!1!

We are children of the universe (no less than the trees and the stars) but ... we have a right to be here.

He's just worried if chess.com recognises Catalunya, eventually all those Barcelona players won't be able to win Spain the World Cup anymore...
