no more external ads

Eric needs the ads to encourage membership and doesn't he make some $ from those ads?

Why tell non-members how to eliminate them?

I've posted the link on several threads with erik's knowledge.  He's cool with it.  If he would like me to stop, I'll gladly do so.

The external ads generate a pittance to pay off server costs, no more.  That's what they're needed for.

What I've refrained from doing is telling people how to block internal chess.com ads.  That, I presume, would interfere with encouraging membership.

As for the "very talkative LisaV" not responding to you until now, I either moved on to another thread or I logged out and lived my life.  Sorry.

Thanks I appreciate your well thought out response. And I might say I was expecting some type of angry response , but you proved me wrong. But I still think telling non-members how to block ads does not show appreciation for the free site you are enjoying.

Some day we’ll fall down and weep and we’ll understand it all. All things.

I'll agree to disagree.

OK why did you change your avitar?

Become a member for $29.00 a year and then you won't have to complain.

If you don't become a member, instead of complaining be thankful it's  FREE!

Because Nikita > everyone else, duh.

I wasn't trying to complain, I was suggesting that maybe that they should use their space better.

I think he is saying replace pop up ads with more banner ads in the empty space, not get rid of ads. Unless people pay more for pop up ads I don't see the point of keeping them. If they do generate more than banner ads then it is reasonable to have them IMO since they are not as annoying as most other pop up ads.

That is exactly my point! I have no problem with ads, but it's when they get in the way of things, then that's when I have a problem.
