Point well made ... and often made, I might add. Apparently, the etiquette that many of us learned when we picked up the game in the over-the-board fashion has not yet reached those who play on the Internet. That, plus the fact that many players here are immature, at least in age ... and haven't yet developed adult social skills. It is annoying, this is true. But it's life, I'm afraid. At least the Fair Play Policy tends to straighten up some behavior.
Disconnects and delays

I have really enjoyed Chess.com in the last couple of months, especially the live chess, but after an initial burst of Blitz chess, I have gone for longer games eg 15mins to improve my game.
My rating is going up nicely but now approximately half my games seem to be won on disconnects and delays in people playing. This usual occurs at a critical time of the game. Now the message always comes up saying they may have violated fair play policy and may be punished but its annoying for several reasons:
I wanted a game of chess, including a victory if earnt
It wastes my time while I wait for the clock to tick down and see if they are going to play
My rating may now be artificially inflated to 1100 because I have "won" so many games against people 900-1100 who cant be bothered to complete a game or resign
Sorry for the whinge and I know Chess.com does its best (including ending a game if the player does nothing for several minutes but the clock still has time on it) but its getting annoying. Why do people bother. It didn't seemed to happen when I was 600-800, does it happen much after 1200 too?
Please people - play your games, resign or dont start a game in the first place!
Peace and love to all the other nice people I have played full games with :D
