Do serious threads exist on the internet?

No, seriosly now. Even on chess.com, a site about a mind game, people troll. If people can troll on a chess site, I'm just wondering if there's any place on the internet where you are safe Laughing

They better not...

I've seen a few. I'd like them to remain that way, so no links.

They're on more heavily moderated sites than this.

Just in case you weren't trolling or somebody else reads this thread looking for a real answer rather than some waffles...

There are serious threads on other sites. I won't link to them either, because I don't want chess.com members going there too.

Chess.com is like youtube in terms of comment quality, and most of the regulars seem quite proud of this.

Everybody is trolling on this earth in their real life because they want sex and friends. All this world is false.  This world runs because of harmones. The internet is only a partial reality where lonely people troll. In actuality there is nothing but only trolling persons everywhere. Even religions are trolls and all the actors and movies and scientists are trolls because they want to spread their sperms everywhere.

So basicly trolls exist because they want SEX and FRIENDS.

there's a serious trolling problem in these forums....the worse I've been to by far.other decently moderated forums I go to don't have this problem...the moderation here is non-existant.

No they're there, they're just playing that chess game all day Undecided

The actual chess threads here are replete with brilliant discussions and useful information.  The rest, people have fun.  I fail to see the problem here.

I think the OP was intentionally being facetious.  It's the people who honestly agreed with the premise that ought to read through all those links you posted, Anthony.  I've been following the French Defense thread with some interest, to name another.

Yes there are serious sites, you just have to look for them (like somebody else said, advertising them leads to more trolls joining) . One thing is that the bigger a site gets the more likely trolls and such will start appearing.

I will state one particular site I know where there is a range of knowledgeable, serious threads from issues like deontology in philosophy, to educational privatisation and so forth. That's serious stuff I'd say.

Andy, you and I think similarly on the subject.  Cheers.

Oh, puh-lease..."comment quality" and "youtube" shouldn't appear anywhere near the same sentence.  Indeed, here's a handy comparison between the average chess.com contributor and those on YT.

Only mine. Chess is not a funny subject.

That's what I used to think too, until I got on here...

Here's a site with serious forums for you:

https://www.ravelry.com

I wonder what sort of riveting things they discuss.
