Isn't Twitter's main benefit giving a venue and access to an audience to those who don't readily have access to these things?

I'm a little confused as to what value it brings Chess.com, who already have both a venue and an audience.  I prefer one stop shopping, personally.

To the "I've never used it because I don't like it" crowd, I will just say that Twitter is what you make of it. 

Take the time find the voices that resonate with you and your interests (be they bloggers, news services, software companies, grandmasters, or Brent Spiner), divvy them up into thematic groups, and you've got a constant feed of information and entertainment whenever you feel like catching up. 

Concise too.
