Free membership - where at?

hi!
I recently received a message, saying that the administration offers me a free 10-day premium trial. As I have never been premium, I thought it was interesting to try. But when I press on the link, it asks for my credit card details.

So, the big question is - What is free about it, if it asks for the credit card?

I am probably missing something, help me understand.

Thanks

erik

free to try. the credit card is just there so that if you keep the membership after the trial, you can pay for it. also, prevents people from creating fake accounts just for free trials.

Ah, ok. Thanks!

Too bad... I guess that means that for payment, chess.com also saves the CC info, instead of just moving to a bank side and waiting for the "OK" message from the bank? Makes it kind of unwanted to go for a premium membership, but so be it.
