curious about your thoughts regarding the "friend" feature here.

how many of you have met friends from this site? i've tried to facilitate meeting other friends and it has not happened.

as an old-timer here, many friends go by the wayside. some leave because the site uses bots to mute. some become jerks. some disappear. some decide they don't want to interact anymore. being friends only means you follow their posts. nothing more.

in the end, the friend thing is only so that you spend more time on the site.

I was very close to meet @SocialPanda when he was passing through Madrid once, but eventually we couldn't due to a misunderstanding on my part :/

And I'm worried about @Wolfbird, we interacted frequently before she disappeared.

@socialpanda has disappeared for a long while now. Didn't know @wolfbird had also disappeared.

I have two students at present whom I met through the site. One is local and we meet in person. One is in a neighboring state and we meet online, but he has played in two OTB tournaments that I also played in.

There are others, but these are the first two who come to mind.

I met a lot of people in online gaming, that later became great friends online.
