Meh...this is about as whiney as it gets.

At least he was courteous and gave you the proper response of: gg.

judging from your username, I think that you're being sarcastic

@Blumzovich-Do yourself a favor and look up Poe's law.  Right now you must consider yourself the man for decieving everybody in an online forum, but perhaps a little research into the aformentioned 'law' will give you a broader understanding of communication without enunciation and gesticulation.

I knew of the principle just didn't know what it was called, thanks.

That was satire?  Completely feeble.  There is no irony there - it just looks like dozens of other stupid threads and is a waste of everyone's time.

Yeah it was.  I was laughing before reading the second post.  Besides, why a duck?

Why a no chicken?

Let me guess, you just play for the prestige of it? -_-

Meh, you're just angry. Take a few breaths before you write emails. You'll save yourself embarassment. It's best just to be thought of as a fool rather than open your mouth and confirm it.

So it wasn't satire and you are an idiot?  I'm not calling you one, I'm trying to throw you a lifeline.

Hmmm, thanks for the attempt at throwing me a life line. After reading Poe's Law, I now understand. Perhaps I should take my own advice.

The obvious to some is not quite so to others... :)

No worries, I just figured you'd read the rest of the thread.

I lost a game and my opponent said GG.  How dare he: I had him beat, it was pure luck for him.  So I requested a rematch, and you know what he did: he refused by disconnecting.

Why does chess.com let members get away with such outrageous behavior?

A better question would be, "Why are there so many cry babies on chess.com.?

What's wrong with saying "gg"?

formyoffdays

I think saying gg is generally ok, though if it's the winner saying it, it can come over as a little smug.

Returning to the original thread, I got that this was satire and am often amazed when people don't - especially on here where there is quite a bit of this stuff, some of which is very funny.  I checked out Poe's Law - very interesting.

I once posted on an ebay forum that I would willingly sell my house and all its contents to help ebay (to make a change from the usual rants about how awful it was).  Many people took it seriously.  Ah well.

BigOto

In the Minecraft community you usually say "GG" completely regardless of who won or lost in a specific challenge. Don't see why it isn't the same here or why people are so sensitive.

Happy reading!

I almost never accept rematches unless I know the opponent. In a tournament, you don't play the same person twice, so why should I do it here?

Talfan1

good game  is a customary way of acknowledging your opponent after a match and is good manners something that seems to be in decline of late but thats another thread why not accept it in good grace and reflect why your opponent found the game good ie an interesting sacrifice or a positional work of art etc i think gg is only innapropiate if one of the players played like a chump

I think ''gg'' may be replaced with,Thank You for the game,I enjoyed playing you.I know its a bit long winded but its more genuine I feel.

If you really feel that way, the longer expression is appropriate. If you just got lucky due to a mouse slip and beat someone rated higher than you, then by all means put salt on the wound with gg.
