greetings from a would-be chess player

Hi, I just joined this fine looking community and figured I'd say hello.  I don't have a rating or anything like that as I'm just a liesure player.  But I am rather enraptured with the game and have been playing in spurts over the past few years.  I'm hoping to delve deeper into the sublime intricacies of the game and improve my playing.  I also look forward to meeting you folks, having some laughs, and hopefully learning a bit as you trounce me on the board :p

I'm sure there's something around here dealing with this question, but if you might direct me toward some suggestions for a method of learning to add to my madness --not too intensive, I'm not shooting to be a GM any time soon--I'd be much appreciative.

I learned a lot from the tactics trainer and the articles on this website. There are articles for beginners.
Another advice: don't play to many games at once but concentrate on a couple of games.
