Good one! :)
Help us brainstorm new Site Awards ("Badges")

Ha! These are great. Some of them might not be technically feasible, but I'm writing them down anyway - maybe we can use them for regular (non-automated) trophy ideas. :)
And points.. yeah. There has to be a better way.. Anyway, that's fodder for a separate thread. :)
Keep 'em coming please!

A trophy for reaching 1000 or 2000 games or for having played or hosted a certain number of tournaments. (I can't think of any title, sorry)
If it were possible to give trophies to groups, a trophy for winning a team match league would be cool.

"Keen Observer"--a year on the site and not a single game played (implies active posting or blogging or just logging on)
i.e. Crazychessplaya...can't think of anyone else.

Get a Life - 10,000 hours spent on chess.com
Cheezburger Waffels - 100 pictures posted in the forums
Boring - have the same status for a year
Exclusive - be the only person in a group

I thought you'd killed this idea the last time it was presented with your rapier wit!

First! - be the first poster on a daily puzzle's comments
Fragile - Block 200 People
Cliché - Start a new thread about resignation etiquette, relative peice values, Fischer vs. Kasparov etc.
Banality - Post "LOL" anywhere on the site at any time
Bloody Vikings! - Start 5 new threads on the same calendar day
The Artfizz - link to twenty other threads in the forums
The Kacparov - Over 100 concurrent games and a rating over 2000
Quotable - Quoted 50 times
Virtuoso - Compose a Puzzle that's used as a daily puzzle
Immortal - Play a game that could be considered a brilliancy (periodically voted?)

Phoenix - oldest thread resurrection (of the month) i.e. greatest time between successive postings. (Shortest time between successive postings could qualify for the AwardChessAward.)
AcrossTheGrobe - played a game against the member who is the greatest geographical distance away from you (this could be illustrated on the interactive map)

...
The achievements that trigger awards need to be things that we can query our data to uncover - but apart from that, the sky (and our imagination) is the limit!
...
Quitter - resigned more than 1% of your games in a month.
What would be an acceptable threshold for labelling someone as a 'Never' resign-er? Resigning from fewer than 5% of their lost games? (And would this be the borderline between qualifying for automatic membership of Chess Spartans rather than Chess Athenians?).
Determining when it would have been appropriate to resign is, of course, the holy grail of chess. Many forums dedicate themselves to this noble pursuit - a few with Monty Pythonesque vigour.

"lift off"

"open your parachute',
picture: A man with an unopened parachute falling down when there is a rating decrease of over 100 points in a certain amount of time.
"mayday ,mayday'
picture: a plane going done. When there is a rating decrease of X in a certain amount of time.
"sleeping beauty'
picture: a sleeping princess like the fairy tale, when someone is inactive for a long time.
"Your a teamplayer'
picture: picture of the chesspieces in a position like a soccer team before the match when they take the picture. When someone is playing the Xth team match.
Help us out as we put a fresh face on Chess.com trophies! We're going to make these awards LOOK better, and we're going to introduce fun new site awards too!
We are creating a series of new site awards in spirit of the "badges" used in FourSquare and other online games: These will be awarded automatically based on your "achievements" at Chess.com.
The achievements that trigger awards need to be things that we can query our data to uncover - but apart from that, the sky (and our imagination) is the limit!
So please help us brainstorm… Check the list of examples below, and see what else you can come up with. We're looking for a catchy title (not too long) and the behavior that triggers the award.
If you contribute an idea we use, we'll.. um.. I dunno.. maybe give you a trophy or something! :)
Examples:
“Dangerous Carbon Unit” – beat the computer 20 times
“Chess Ninja” – win a rated game via checkmate in < 15 moves
“Smoking Gun” – Complete 10 games of Bullet in Live
“Soapbox” – post your first blog
“Fountain Pen” – post your 3th blog
“Printing Press” – post your 10th blog
“Tactics Addict” – complete 10000 tactics
“Backpacker” – Play people from 10 different countries
Thanks!
