Help with this particular match...

Hi, this one online match is repeating forever and getting nowhere.

Would anyone like to help me with this match?

Also I don't want to "cheat" but I'm not sure exactly what that would mean for online chess.  One thing for sure, the match is going nowhere as it is.

Thanks for any responses,

Why don't you just ask for a draw ?

Its not right, to help on ongoing match, but, i got a question, why this game is not drawn by repetition ?

I guess it's not drawn because he keeps making check over and over...  Does that make sense?

And if people think it's not right to help, well fine.  Like I said, I'm not exactly sure what is appropriate but my opponent seems content to repeat the match forever, and I don't see what I should do...

Maybe I should, though I am one point ahead...

Also are you guys looking at the match itself?  It's a very strange, unique repeating pattern that we're stuck in, which is one reason I posted...

Yeah, there should be a "Offer draw" or "Claim draw" button.

ChessBloodBathHouse

^Ha I know HOW to offer a draw...  It's just not my first instinct when I'm stuck but one point ahead.  :D

Also the opponent is a much higher-rated friend, which is another reason I'd prefer a win rather than a draw, especially when I'm slightly ahead as it is...

Another reason I posted is because in past games when this guy repeats like this, if I break the pattern, he usually destroys me right away lol.  I think I must be in such a situation right now...

Oh I see, you're trying to win the position.  But if you're trying to get outside help for your game, that'd be considered cheating :(  You gotta wait until the game is over to discuss it, unfortunately.

Regardless, rook endgames like this are known to be extremely drawish (even being a pawn ahead), and drawing against a higher rated opponent is nothing to be ashamed of.  If you truly feel that the game is going nowhere, you should take the draw.

OK thanks guys.  I learned from the above post that a match must be finished before discussing it.  OK so be it.  :)

Also this thread did help me realize that I should offer a draw and be done with it.

There was a funny resolution to this match just now.  I went to the usual spot to OFFER DRAW but instead it said CLAIM DRAW.  Clicked it and it was instantly drawn due to repetition.  (I thought such a draw would have been automatic from the website, if at all.)  I guess the funny part is that I didn't expect it to be instant nor did I expect it to say "due to repetition."

^Lol.  I was wondering why it wasn't drawn already for weeks and weeks.  Because I thought the website would do that automatically (draws from repetition).

Just now I meant to OFFER a draw.  Didn't know it was going to be an instant draw from repetition as soon as I clicked.  lol

According to fide repetition isn't automatically a draw, it has to be claimed by one of the players.

Second thing is rhat you can't ask for help with ongoing games, be careful with that

Yeah now I know not to ask for help with ongoing games.  I hadn't used or read the forums previously.  Wasn't trying to "cheat" and I said so in the first post.  :)

This thread did help me clear up the whole issue of the draw from repetition -- it's not automatic and needs to be claimed by one of the players.  So that's why this match dragged on for 7 weeks and 219 moves.  lol

Great lol
