ICCF allows engine assistance, and good centaurs (engine+human) can reliably beat an unassisted engine.
Houdini 3.0 - defeated by 21 humans in 190 games
Players are ICCF and FIDEated but play on chessworld website. How do I tweak so it can compete at GM level? What tweaks are best to optimize the program? Is the database that came with houdini too small?

well, first things first, unassisted humans don't just beat houdini like that, even if the program only has a 5 0 time control. it's usually safe to assume that some kind computer assistance was also used on the other side if houdini was beaten.
so... you might either have been outsearched (people's engines are searching deeper), or outplayed (a competent human+engines team is choosing better moves than houdini could choose alone), or both. :D
Can anyone help tweak houdini to perform better against other engines. What setting and parameters are the best to use beyond the default settings. Could houdini have been outplayed due to the database and opening book that came with the program? What about tablesbases that may need to be installed since houdini did not come with tablesbases.
What is the best time controls and search depth?
Thanks
I would like to know how 23 different people are able to defeat Houdini 3.0 out of 190 games. Houdini wins 137-19-34. Players rated from 2025 to 2300 from both ICCF and FIDE. Used chessworld website to test against rated players.
Why is the program unable to win 99% against human players. program straight from box, using own book running on 2 core processor with 8 gb memory. Using Fritz 13 interface and chessbase 1.5 million game database. Game setting were 5 min blitz using optimized settings.
Any help would be appreciated.
How do I tweak the program to perform better? What seems to be missing?
