How are my games ending in Draw?

How is it that an opponent has only his king left, and I have multiple pieces and pawns, and the game ends in a Draw? Clearly I can put his king in checkmate. It happens ALL the time, not only when an opponent only has a king, but with plenty of time and I clearly have the game won but opponent doesn’t resign…chess.com calls it a Draw. No clue what is happening.

Your 3 most recent draws were draws by stalemate.

If a player has no legal moves and their king is attacked that's checkmate.

If a player has no legal moves and their king is NOT attacked, that's stalemate, which is a draw.

Other ways to draw are insufficient material, 3 fold repetition, and the 50 move rule.

Thank you for the enlightenment. I need more practice to avoid continuing ending games in stalemate. It happens all too often when I should end with a win. I have plenty of pieces and pawns, but I’m not closing the deal. Much appreciated.
