Go to the live chess page, and check out your settings (in the menu on the top right sidebar- http://www.chess.com/home/livechess_settings). Theres an option to disable sounds :)
Hope that helps!

Uncheck 'play sounds'
When I uncheck 'play sounds' they do disappear, but I still can't get rid of the unbelievably annoying sound that occurs every time it is my move in a game. Any tips on where to look for this setting? I just can't find it.
And to top off the mockery of my technical abilities safari just won't let me turn off the sound for the tab with chess.com as it isn't really playing audio. I don't believe that I have ever experienced anything quite as annoying as this before.
*facepalm* My phone was lying behind the screen of the macbook and making sounds. I was trapped by electronics...
just right click on the chess.com tab which you are playing on and click on "mute tab" or "mute" or "mute site" or whatever comes with mute.
I can't find it. I only want to mute the chime I don't want to mute the sounds when my opponent makes a move. Don't want to mute the site.
I like to listen to music while I play live chess and I can't figure out how to turn off the chess sounds. Sorry if this is obvious. I looked for several minutes.
