daily is the most relaxed thing ever, rapid requires you to sit fro an extended amount of time.
I made a New Year’s resolution to not play bullet or blitz to mitigate my calculation skills from going shallow.
I am a classical player so even rapid 15/10 feels like blitz and 10/0 is bullet to me.

Why not try daily when youre tilted or feel like you want to take a break? you might like the change of pace
I use to hit the bottle and that was a lot fun but it would leave me a hangover the next day. Nowadays I drink a lot of peppermint and chamomile tea, milk as well. Great for my joints and muscles haha.
The daily thing, I am not a fan of the database usage and games can go on forever….
I predict in 3 months you'll be at 1555 if you play 3-5 rated rapid games (at +25 to +50) at least 3 x a week. I'm thinking once you're average accuracy drops to 71 you'll need to study for 1600 + elo......
Not what you asked, Chuck, but at least it's positive feedback 😅

I watched a bullet game and oh my god. The first 5 turns on both sides were completed in less than 3 seconds. I felt like I was sitting in another universe...
I hit a new high today despite tilting four times last year. Normally I would just hit the bottle.
How do you guys overcome tilt?
Normally, I would like to take a short break from playing when I tilt. I just keep solving puzzles (if I have premium membership) . It always feels good to have that break. I direct my attention towards this social aspect of the site like connecting with community through forums, just going through interesting articles/blogs etc. Don't know about others, but this really works for me
Chess has ups and downs, just like life. I've learned in my short time here at chess.com that these "tilts" don't last, just as winning streaks don't last. My philosophy is simply "Show up", and try not to worry about it. I believe that after a tilt period, I have generally come back stronger, so maybe learning takes place.....not sure.
Unattach yourself from elo and other metrics. It's just numbers. It's performance that counts.
Sometimes to play better chess you have to transform your game to higher levels of complexity.
At first you won't be able to manage those, so your rating will significantly drop. But once you master this entirely new game (played on the same board) your rating will tremendously increase. It's like punctuated equilibrium-style evolution. Don't worry about temporary performance goals - they don't measure the quality of your chess, just the ratio of wins vs. losses. Beating 1 GM is worth more than playing ten thousand amateurs. Aim for the sky.

Thanks. I should play more often and plan onto.
I was playing in spurts and wedge between long breaks; life happens.
Stop playing when you lose 3 in a row. If I continue playing after losing several games in a row I can lose 100points in a day.
Why do you care about online rating?? It is irelevant in life..... OK maybe you like it cos you feel achievment when you have high rating... but you already know how good you are, you dont need a online chess rating to tell you, If you do care a lot, don't take a break but play on a different site like lchess or 24
