How long does it take to become a CM Candidate Master?

I played chess for 4 years and my chess.com rapid rating is nearly 1900. How many more years do I need to play chess to achieve the CM title?

llama47

Titles aren't given based on the number of years played. For one person it might be 5 years, for another it might be 10 years... for most people it's never.

Well Yitian, You finally got what u wanted

As soon as you beat Nelson, they give you the title.
thijnschaakt

7 years 3 months and 18 days.

All such titles are given out by FIDE (IM, GM, FM) or your national organization and can only be won over the board.

DiogenesDue

It takes about a month, after you satisfy all the criteria...

You can earn correspondence chess titles with the ICCF by playing online or postal chess.

(CCE) correspondence chess expert

(CCM) correspondence chess master

(IM) correspondence chess International master

(SIM) Correspondence chess Senior International master

(GM) Correspondence chess Grandmaster

Do you have any idea how few people in America have any interest in spending that much time and energy playing correspondence chess? LOL...come on, get real.

I play there.

There are 5150 players on the active rating list, https://www.iccf.com/RatingList.aspx

In a country of 350+million.

Country? You do realize ICCF is an international organization, right? Over 50 different countries are official members.

Well this is getting way off topic.....the only point I was really trying to make was that titles can be earned on ICCF.

First—congrats on your Team win in school

Second—with all due respect, please check your profile. Your post asks about the timeline to become a CM (2200 OTB); however, your profile states you are a titled (CM) player; so why are you asking?  Additionally, your other ratings do not seem to correspond with such a rank.  Again, no disrespect.

And I'm telling you that nobody cares.

You seem pretty confident in your assessment for somebody who created their account 5 days ago.  I would posit that people care less about your opinion than about your conclusion wink.png.

@CenterMass51075 I asked this question about half a year ago

Normal people literally never, ever think about Chess. Don't you realize that? That the overwhelming majority of people on earth literally NEVER even have Chess enter their minds? You guys are delusional lol

You need to brush up on the meaning of "literally", as well as the meaning of "normal".  You know, since chess players and people that think about chess are, in fact, normal.

99.99%+ go about all 24 hours of their day never once thinking about Chess. That's a fact. You guys are total weirdos.

This point does not support your position about correspondence chess vs. OTB chess, but I guess it's a good enough position if your intention is to flee the area... wink.png

Wouldn't want to get any "weirdo" molecules on you, right?

That's what I'm saying. Nobody even cares enough about things like chess, checkers, or bridge to even read your post. They're all a waste of time for seniors.

No, that was not your point at all.  Your point was about correspondence chess compared to "regular" chess.  So, this is a retreat to "well, all chess players are abnormal and people don't care"...which begs the question of why you are posting here at all and what you must think of yourself wink.png.

Would you care to continue digging yourself into a hole?

That you could possibly think a grown man who spends his time on Chess is anything other than pathetic is proof that you're pathetic.

Thanks.  You couldn't have dug deeper if you tried.  So everyone on this site (which is for adults, by the way...chesskids is --> that way), and all the titled players in the news articles here, indeed everyone that plays chess past childhood are pathetic by your reckoning.

Enjoy the rest of your harried and short stint on this account wink.png...

Edit:  Well gee, his posts are all gone now.  30 minutes might be some kind of record.
