How many games do you have to play before you're no longer consider a new member

I'm getting sick of all these restrictions they're putting on "new members". I've been a member for a while now. But I guess it doesn't count that I haven't been using the site to play chess very much.

All what restrictions?

ForsakenWolf

I cannot join certain chat groups because I'm a "new member". I cannot play in tournaments. And other little annoying things. I know it's not because I don't have a gold or premium account or it would say that. It just doesn't allow me into alot of the chat areas or any tournaments because I'm a "new member". Doesn't make any sense to me.

It's not really that big of a deal. Once I get enough games in to get rated then I feel all these issues will go away.

Group [some] will not allow new members to join because they are afraid of imposters usually you have to wait 3 months.

IMO it shouldn't depend on how many games you've played, but rather on how many posts you've made on the forums. That way it encourages forum activity.

Thank you for the information guys. It's greatly appriciated.

No it is correct. Most tournaments etc.. Only admit players that played at least 5 games or so. Just continue. It will go away soon enough, but challenge people to play.

They will. Another issue some td's have is that new members are given a 1200 rating, but the player may actually be much better. It's happened quite often, so td's make a minimum of, say, 50 games played tor entry.

Perhaps you could try for at least a game per month?

Total Games: 8 (4 W/ 3 L / 1 D)

Lol, I do admit I haven't been using the site to play as much as I like. But, that's about to change. I used to let losing get to my head. But, I don't care anymore. I'm just here to have fun and hopefully get better at a game I enjoy to play. I've come to the realization that I'll lose thousands of games before I get to where I want to be.

I've played my majority of games against computers. And, I need to get out of that habbit and start playing people more often. I just don't like the fact that in order to find a quick game it has to be 5 or 10 minutes. I've never been a big fan of blitz chess. But, that's what is popular on the internet. So, that's what I'll have to deal with.

Yeah, Id like to think I'm worthy of at least a 1200 rating. But, that doesn't seem to be the case. I'm just not good at playing fast yet. It's something I need to really work on. In almost every game I've lost I've beaten myself because I start rushing things. I'll review my game and just be like "wtf was I thinking" Lol. Blitz chess is definitely different for me.
