how many moves.

i was just wondering how many moves need to be made for an online game to be rated. i have recently had a couple of games that i won on time. but these were not rated as opponent made no moves. how many do they need to make for me to get rating points. any help will be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance.

Three and a half moves or seven ply by timeout in any game. Notice the six ply game does not affect SanMatthias's rating but the seven ply game does.

Zero moves by resignation in a tournament game. In this sequence a zero move timeout does not affect rating but a zero move resignation does.
