How to search for similar games?

Search for games with similar positions in my record?

What is the best way to do  this?

I have downloaded my games.  Is there some program to search them all and find games with similar positions?  (eg not more than 1-2 peices in a different position on each side).

I don't know of any programs that will allow 1-2 piece leniency. The GUI/Database Jose (abandoned project) has exact position search for entered games. That's about the only one I know of; Arena 3.0, for instance, doesn't even have that. Theoretically speaking, however, the program wouldn't be to difficult to write. Calculate FEN of said position and iterate through the moves of all the games and compare FENs.

hm.  It doesn't really matter then.

I noticed a position in one of my games I remembered and wondered if it was the same player.
