So today I broke through 2000 for Puzzles. I hit 2002 to be exact. As many of you know, they don't put up a percentage for Puzzles like they do Rapid, Blitz, and Bullet.
So I figured out a very long way to see what my percentage rank is. I looked up the Canada puzzle ratings. There are 255,408 players.
Yes I live in the U.S., but that doesn't show the amount of players after 500,000. And using the World players list seems not to be current, because there are more than 2.6 million chess puzzle players. The reason I picked Canada is that it is close to the United States, and it has a smaller population than Mexico.
So I checked out my ranking would be if I lived in Canada. The ranking would be 8998.
So, once I found that out, I subtracted 8998 from 255,408 which equaled 246,410. After that I divided 255,408 into 246,410. This equals about 96.47%. So I'm better than 96.46% of players who played at least one puzzle.
So getting a 2000 in puzzles is nowhere near getting a 2000 in Rapid, Blitz, or Bullet, but it is still a very good rating given you're better than 96.4% of the puzzle players.
It's a super long way to basically approximate your puzzle rating for percentage, but at least it is something to go on.
