iOS users: Troubles with Facebook Sign-In?

Hi all!

If you're an iOS app user who also uses Facebook to sign in to Chess.com, we'd be interested to hear whether the recent iOS update is working for you.

This app includes an updated Facebook SDK (a bunch of code basically) that they required us to have in place before June. The only significant difference for users is that you can now sign in to the Chess app without the Facebook app installed, using account information configured in iOS Settings:

But it seems like, in some cases, there are issues right after the upgrade - namely, Facebook throws an "invalid access token" message when the user tries to sign in.

What we've found is that starting over from scratch is a good thing to try. (And sorry for the inconvenience.)

• Delete your Facebook app (and/or remove Facebook account settings in iOS6);
• Delete the Chess app;
• Restart your device (might help);
• Reinstall Facebook app and/or reconfigure your Facebook account in iOS settings
• Reinstall Chess - Play & Learn; 

And then try once more to sign in.

Please let us know what you're seeing in the Comments. 

And if nothing is working, please send me a message and I'll add a password to your account - so you can log in without Facebook for the time being.

The only problem I'm having is my games won't post facebook.  There is a whole thread on your website of people complaining about it.  Been going on for more than a month.

Just from iOS, you mean? And this remains true with yesterday's update?

 Hello  I would like to know Will this affect uers of facebook with Pc's and laptops as well? I do not know what iOS stand for. It is softwhere for smartphones  or tablets?

Everytime i turn my Ipad on and attempt to sign in with the Chess App, it says "reconnecting" and then "error please log on again". Sadly, it usually freezes and i can't get to the log on screen "underneath" the "reconnecting" spinning message. Many times it tries to show me the ugly looking adds at the bottom of the screen. When I go to settings thereafter to log on again ...it attempts to log on via the facebook. It "hands free" cycles between a failed log on facebook to the chess screen. I finally have to do the "reset network only" command from the Ipad General settings page. I'm about 3 steps away from CANCELLING MY MONTHLY PAYMENT, as this app is constantly full of issues...sad.

Strange... When you initially try to sign in, are you attempting to connect via Facebook or with a password & username?

Have you tried deleting the app and reinstalling fresh from the Store? If not, that might help.

I can still login to chess.com using FB on my iPhone with iOS7, but I can't login on my iPad with iOS7. On the iPad I get an error message that says "Something went wrong" and tells me to check the app settings in FB. I have tried the following sequence, without success:

delete the Chess app on the iPad

remove Chess app permissions in FB

Turn off iPad power

Turn iPad on again (after 5 minutes)

Reinstall Chess app in FB

I'll try the steps you recommended next, since I haven't tried deleting and reinstalling FB yet.

Tried all the steps you listed, in order.  When I touch "Connect with Facebook" bar on Chess.com app, I get dialog box saying:

To use your Facebook account with
this app, open Settings > Facebook
and make sure this app is turned on.

I checked my FB settings, and they show Chess.com is Sharing with Public.

Can still login to Chess.com on iPhone and PC using Facebook.

Just to be clear... it's your Facebook Settings within iOS that we're talking about.. nothing to do with sharing.

Can I get a password assigned to my account please? Nothing is working as far as the app allowing me to sign in with facebook. It flat out does not let me. 

pics notshowing for me either and just an uodate i had the same problem in my kindle fire and followed the instructions and second time deleted the chess permissiokns in facebook as it seems id deleted share only with me but it showed in share with friends after reinstalling but did behave once id deleted that and it came up with the allow access to facebook...

now only problem is the ad every move, extremely irritating, and even dragged me back to the ad when i was readung the upgrade account page on dolphin hd  

dont remember this many ads on the iphone version.

using a competitors for now while i google if the ads are the normal rate as it even stops the "thinking" by the computer from clearing from that line.

brief update . thought id try tactics: no ads, so once eventually solved went back to start a game and no ads so far. Was maybe a glitch as i did nitice on my 2nd move with ads it skipped to some other board layout so i started a new game again (back at the ad every move stage) so ill grab a coffee and try again later ;)

I did everything you guys said to resolve the problem and Iit doesn't work, it begins to exasperate me...

Sane as tiger.... this is getting frustrating. As soon as my membership ends im gonna go play somewhere else...

i cant sign in with my fb account

you need to go to chess.com on your computer and enable fb login first. then it works in the up.

I am having the same issue.. was this every resolved? Using iphone 6 plus
