Is putting on vacation timer on daily games but still playing everyday bannable?

One of my daily games, my opponent had white and did not play for over 2 days. On 84 minutes they then put the "vacation timer" on and proceeded to not play for over a week and are still not playing. When I checked their profile, they had been playing rapid, blitz and bullet that day and were not infact on vacation but was infact stalling to probably make me forget about it, (also they were last online 3 hours ago when I checked at the time of this post.) They haven't just done this to me, however they have done it too TWo oher players. I was wondering if this is punishable as it is kind of sandbagging/ stalling. [Name removed - DB]- you ain't slick, I am coming for you.

[User name removed - DB]

if it isn't punishable, this small, insolent, blockhead child is still the scum of the earth in my opinion.

No moves have been made in the game. Just abort and move on. No need to make a thread complaining about it.

If vacation is being used to prolong a hopelessly lost game, then that is something is reportable. Otherwise, vacation can be used as wanted and players are still allowed to be on site doing other things, including playing live games or playing moves in no-vacation daily events.

Daily games aren't rated if they aren't at leas 4 moves per player, so even if they timed out, it doesn't impact anything other than win/loss ratio.

Don't you only get 7 days of vacation timer? After a week, I believe games are forced to continue and [Name removed - DB] hould run out of time. Correct me if i'm wrong.

That's not correct.

Cheers for the advice, I will not be aborting though, I will beat him at his own game and not fall into his trap.

ah cheers, still going to wait out the timer though, just to beat him at his own strategy.

Perhaps you were rude to him trash talking, and this is his way of revenge…Just saying.

Unless three people in a row were trashtalking him, I'm pretty sure he is just being annoying.

and this is what I said, don't really think it is rude, only did everything after "good luck have fun" after 2-ish days.

Yup…I thought that had something to do with it.

ngl I he did it to three people so the chances are it isn't directly linked to the messages

yeah

"do d4 e4 preferably"

who are you to decide what your opponent does

your opponent is clearly justified to be in an outrage and protest about this extremely bad behavious

(please keep your sarcasm levels but still thats an eh comment)

I was trying to use reverse psychology so I could get an early advantage since most good opening lines are d4-e4. (excluding english, reti etc.)

Why should it be bannable? You have vacation time. You can use it.

still, its annoying that you can do it whilst still playing on the website. It should cancel after a day or something if you play another match, which is what this person is oding.

Nah, it shouldn’t be linked. I know guys that put a massive amount into their daily chess, set their games up on real boards, write notes, consult their books, if they’re away on holiday or out of town or whatever, they shouldn’t be stopped from playing live games for fun or ‘forced’ to move in daily.

It is what it is, when you start the daily game, you have to accept that they may go on vacation.

Obviously as mentioned, if it’s blatant stalling, that’s different.

Also with regard to the 84 minutes they’re probably a premium member and that was the auto vacation kicking in rather than them putting themself on vacation manually.

ah okay, they are a premium member, cheers for the insight, ngl I do the same thing (not setting up, but I do try to strategise)

My oponent went on vacation in a moment he blundered and he is in a lost position now. Since then he played around 20 rapid games. I do not think it is fair and I do not belive it is only in my mind. If somebody is able to play any types of games it means that person should be not on vacation.

Yes. Thanks for a tip. I almost always play via the mobile so the user interface is a bit difference. Now when I opened that game on the laptop I can see it says 6 weeks remaining vacations for the oponent. Therefore now I know that eventually the game will be finished.
