Is something fishy going on?

Hi guys,

I was a semi-regular player here a few months or so ago and usually found it pretty challenging to get a rating up over 2000 in the live blitz.

Now, however, the people I'm generally playing are, well... different.  To wit:

Anyhow, I'm just curious - am I just getting a lucky run of opponents, or did the ratings here just recently inflate massively?

Rofl, those games are pretty damn funny. Yeah, definitely not up to par... love how they always dodge the most obvious tactic (obvious force mates), only to walk into elementary knight forks. And failing to calculate basic trades... remembering to count the # of defenders can be tricky!?!

Well, blitz chess is generally error prone at almost any level, but it seems as if the general tenor of play has changed drastically, though I could be just imagining things.

There was a rating change in the last couple of months (check out this topic, post #9)
