League tournament

Hello

What do you think about a league tournament in Chess.com?

That could be organized as country leagues (possibly a final round for champions in each country) or a global league.

This leagues would be a good idea to avoid games with players that leave tournaments during the first round when moving time elapses.

Possible solution of organising: leagues of 5 or 6. The first promotes to a superior league and the last 2 go to inferior league.

This will lead to

  • 1 league on first level
  • 2 leagues on second
  • 4 on third level
  • etc

Total: for n levels and 6 player leagues we have 2^(n-1) leagues, so 6*(2^10-1)

If we would have 8 levels, that means 6*1023 players.

For 3 child leagues for each league, there is even more players available. Players that do not compete for 2 seasons will be eliminated.

Time per move would be ok to be set on 3 days.

What do you think about this?

i've said this before on this site, I think it must not have the same meaning in america

a league has promotion and relegation, never ending

a tournament has a winner-like a cup winner and finishes (a tournament may have a league to progress, i.e. football/circket world cup

but how can you have a league tournament?
