hilarous but sad lol- I tried it and it worked three times in a row
I tried it in hard mode playing moves without paying attention to LCP's response and it goes all the way to move 12 no prob, but it does defend the mate...still the position you end up with is quite good, I had no trouble winning from there.
Fun.
