Live Chess Rooms and Languages: Your Help Please!

Hi erik,
I think a more accurate translation in spanish would be:
"Bienvenidos a la sala en español"
Hi erik,
I think a more accurate translation in spanish would be:
"Bienvenidos a la sala en español"
I think thats right besides the en, which I think should be a de.

I haven't bothered to get any language packages yet so it lookes a little weird to me. I think this may help, there are also other translaters, but I have yet to look at them.

Auto-translate is extremely difficult, as direct translations of words to not help. If a human were to translate the lag would be terrible. I suggest that no translation be instituited.

you can't auto-translate..the result is often nonsense
i think what erik in intending is that only people that speaks one language can chat in a specific chatroom, ...

what i'm suggesting is that we get some native speakers to translate the room names and welcome messages. then people can join those rooms to chat.

"Добро пожаловать в русскую чат-комнату!"
Welcome to the Russian chat room!
I think you should check with somebody else to make sure the translation is good. Even though Russian is my first language, but I don't speak it as well as a native speaker would. Google translate seems to agree with me, but I don't trust machines when it comes to translating.

The room name and welcome message will be part of chess.com. Nobody needs to translate them after they have been translated once and Erik puts them up.

Regarding the Spanish translation. Here in Spain we would say:
"Bienvenidos a la sala en español"
Using "en" as "de" would be a "preposition posessive" meaning something different. Besides, if you want to use the exclamations marks, you have to include the opening mark writing finally:
"¡Bienvenidos a la sala en español!"

ok, nevermind about that part.
so people who spaeks spanish goes into the spanish room.. right?
and how can the staff moderate the chatrooms?

ok, but how native speakers can be up 24/7?
They don't need to be, we're just looking for a translation of "Welcome to the English Room" for each of the languages. That way everyone will be greeted by the computer in their own tongue.... the language is up to the individual speakers from taht point ;-)
we're going to be adding new rooms to live chess soon. we have decided to add the following languages. for each one we need to have the language name and a "Welcome to the English (or other language name) Room!" translated for each one.
Français (French)
Deutsch (German)
Nederlands (Dutch)
Español (Spanish) - Bienvenidos al salon español!
Português (Portuguese)
Italiano (Italian)
Русский (Russian)
Polish
Greek
Turkish
Chinese - Mandarin
Hindī
Arabic
Japanese
Filipino (which language?)
what i'm hoping is that we get native speakers to translate the room names and welcome messages.
thanks!
