Live chess server crash [EDIT - Confirmed DDoS Attack]

Live chess is saying 0 people are online.  I clicked on play live and it keeps sending me to a screen saying the page is unable to open.  Yesterday after every move I made in a live chess game it sent me the same message telling me that the page was unable to open.  There also was a tournament that said "started", but also said join next to it.  I joined but the tournament had not started.  Hours later I came back to live chess and the same tournament was still there, and it still was not starting.  What is ging on with live chess?

It says Live Chess is down now for me in the UK, I can connect to the website and other stuff on the internet. Wondering if it's just me?

And now a message saying "Too many reloads. Please wait 2 minutes and try again."

What's going on?

In the middle of a game, it says "Please wait, it's taking longer than usual to connect." And "Too many reloads. Please wait 2 minutes and try again."  Clearly not a helpful error message.

Okay, it's not just me then

Sorry to report that we are currently experiencing some network issues with our host. Could be network or DDoS. We are working with our host to find out what is causing some intermittent instability. Very sorry!

Confirmed DDoS :/ Looks well targeted since sysadmins were both offline

Why do people target websites for DDoS? I don't know. We have never been extorted or anything. People just... do it. Maybe it was some former cheater who got angry being caught and then purchased DDoS attack on the dark interwebs....

I prefer a good attack on the dark squares, over an attack on the dark interwebs. Just saying...
