probably been posted before, i had a very brief look, and didn't see anything

seems like in a rated game, people aren't forced into the game until they make a move, basically doesn't this just allow people to never have to face a different opening to what they want.

so if they love playing the sicillian but have no idea what to do again 1.d4 they don't ever have to play, they can just abort

That's why you can't take online rating too serious, play for fun and play for improvment, don't think to much on how other's can cheat.

Yes, I don't know what's the point behind letting people abandon games after 4 moves without punishing their ratings. This is one of chess.com mysteries along with threads disappearing when OPs go away.
