Live Standard Chess Questions

Hello all chess.com members. I have been learning a lot of material lately and been playing LIVE STANDARD CHESS to see what my actual OTB rating would be and to get used to the long games found in an armature chess tournament when I enter one this year.

I need help to have like 5-8 general rules and or ideas to keep handy while playing these long games of chess. I know that I will blunder and or make mistakes or loose to more exspiernced players etc... This is manily to help me look for things I would miss just becuase and keep my eyes sharp.

I was thinking something like. 1) Can my opponent check mate me in my current position? 2) Are their any available tactics I can do or have done to me? 3) Am I able to force a check mate. 4) What kind of simple strategies are available right now or mid term? 5) Are their any hanging pieces or weakness in my army? 6) Try to see 4-6 moves deep and what is the outcome good or bad?

As you can see I am maybe making this to complicated. I am doing very Good in my overall Live Chess Standard & Correspondence chess ratings. Any and all advice, or ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thanks Da Garcka Beast !

I think you have covered all the important rules. Often people include a few steps for choosing candidate moves and a last look for blunders before playing a move.

If you want to get an idea of what your OTB strength is, don't play standard because everybody is either criminally underrated or laughably overrated; you really don't know what you're going to get. If you want to find out your OTB strength, my only recommendation is simply to play OTB, which you say you're going to do.
