Moderator Abuse

Where can I report moderator abuse ?

You were warned for a good reason.  Do not call people out.  Publicly naming and shaming doesnt do anyone any good.  If you want to submit a ticket please do it here - Mod.

I've read a few years ago this one likes to create issues where there are none and make power plays. I've now seen this first hand.

I know nothing will be done, I would still like to lodge an official complaint. Maybe it will matter in the future if there are enough complaints recorded.

Also, its not good for the community. This is not the tone the likes of Danny Rensch would set. Currently I am quite sure someone of his jovial personality would get warnings/banned too by some overzealous mods if his identity was hidden. There is quite a disconnect between what Chess.com displays through their media, and how some of their mods act in the game.

You made a joke which crossed the line. You knew you were crossing the line. Putting the "joke" in two separate texts is what made it "funny" and also what made it cross the line.

The mod's response does not come across as a power play.

If you have any common sense, you will drop this.

notmtwain.

That is your opinion. I'm still not aware that I "crossed the line", so its a little confusing when you assert I knew this. How is it you think you can read minds?

The mod's justification for making a power play was not because it was joke that crossed the line at all, but it was *untrue*. In fact, she doesn't even get it was a joke, perhaps until later. This is plainly obvious in the conversation.

@ The mod who edited my post - can you reveal your identity?

I only ask to ensure its not the same mod I am reporting that is removing my posts. I'm sure you can understand that would be a slight conflict of interest.

You are quick to remove the evidence from public view, but at the same time pass on judgement publicly that I was warned "for a good reason". Almost the opposite of the principle you are espousing. Is this fair?

Before I submit my report, has a mod ever been warned or disciplined (for a valid reason deemed by Chess.com)? Just wondering if this is a completely wasted effort.

I obviously believe there are still reasonable mods, otherwise I wouldn't have posted this at all. But you sort of have to get lucky and run into the right one.

Thank you for the link to the reports section.

@Ronald

I never said I don't like the rest of them. For the past 3 years, I have not had any problems 99.9999% of the time. I assume most are volunteers, so their contributions are appreciated. There are many inappropriate chat that needs to be moderated, but this does not even come close - again if I base it on Danny's casual banter as a reference.

Sometimes you can have friendly banter with one mod, but get warnings/muted with others. Like I said, depends who you get. I think management needs to communicate what is acceptable or not, not leave it to the whims of individual mods. I bring up Danny, because he is undeniably the face of Chess.com, and if you watch his shows like I do, you would know what I mean.

The recourse of submitting a ticket has been given. This thread serves no further purpose, so I'm locking it.
