My opponent's account is closed

I was on the 7th move in an online game and waiting for my opponent to make a move. He had 97 active games and his rating was over 2000 when I started playing. After my last move I noticed his rating dropping  so I clicked on his name and I found that his account had been closed. His user name does not appear on the "cheaters" page and it has been over a day since I discovered his account had been closed.  My first question is what is likely to have caused his account to be closed and second must I wait until time runs out before I can claim victory?  His rating has now dropped to the low 1600s and I assume it will keep dropping as time runs out on his other games as well.

I'm guessing that they closed the account for personal reasons. For your second question, I believe that you do have to wait it out in order to claim victory. 

When someone is bagged for cheating, they just don't respond to your move and they time out in each game. You just win when they lose on time.
