New Chess Game concept

hmm so it could only attact peices in front of it not to the sides...like a pawn or even be able to jump over a peice if in danger

how about a piece that on each move goes three squares forward, three squares to the right, three squares down and three squares to the left?

what about if you could either go foward 3 squares or back 3 squares then either go left or right 3 squares like a knight does only differnt or for complexity sake you could go foward left foward or foward right foward back right foward type of moment or even more then 3 at a time the board pictured is 16x16 and theirs 64 peices per side but that's to keep the ratio of squares between opponents the same....so the question is really do I try to create a bunch of new peices with these types of moves or do you just have alot more peices of the same ie more rooks knights bishops etc...I think I shouldn't go too crazy with it but adding a few peices with some more flexibility I think would be nice.

Maybe a piece that can jump over 2 pieces but can only move 3 squares forward. Only forward.
Close to what I was thinking. In Xiangqi (Chinese chess), there is an "artillery" piece that can only capture by jumping over a piece between it and its target (or something along those lines, I don't even play it lol). Since your board is so big and there are so many pieces, you could make them only be able to attack things with three pieces between them or something.

Nice link banachickenpickles...seems this guy has already beat me too it....and then some theres like a thousand varients on there. Well I'm go check it out somemore...the only thing he didn't do was make the board bigger :) ....thanks for the link

damn bird I was just thinking that....you a mind reader :)
yes a roadblock that's a good one in fact I saw just that through the link
that link to exotic chess gives me a lot of ideas the only thing he hasn't done is create the starting setup...as it stands you just pick what peieces u want and where to put em with almost no limitation so I guess I can work on that.
Thanks everybody for your input I really apreciate it
