Hello, try out chess.com's newest chess feature Solo Chess

The feature was posted in the beta club too and I tried it before it was launched, but now it has been officially launched. To go directly to it click on the link: https://www.chess.com/solo-chess

To find it physical, hover over the Board with the Arrow (LEARN section), and find it right below the vision icon.

Rules:

  • Capture a piece with every move until just one remains
  • No piece may capture more than 2 times per puzzle
  • If there is a King on the board, it must be the final piece
  • Try for a perfect run in Challenge Mode!

and also to note, the theme and the daily puzzle icons were updated.

I like it. It's fun but I think it might also be a decent calculation trainer. I've started using it for that. Each increase in level requires you to calculate one move further to complete the puzzle. The positions are simpler than in a match as all captures, but it's still testing your calculation. An improvement would be making it so that a King cant capture into check and must be the next piece to capture if placed into check.

yeah, that could be a mode

I like it too, and agree with LEBisho.

Thanks for starting this thread or who knows how long it would have taken me to find out about the addition!

Thanks for the info. I've only just started at level one. Had to use the hint button, as I didn't quite grasp the concept. Two white pieces and didn't realize it was white v white. I just waited for a Black piece to show up at first and for something to happen.

The same happened to me. White v white what?! Even weirder, once a piece has taken two pieces it turns black. But after a hint it all became clear so it's ok

It's fun!  And as @LEBisho stated, I think it can help as a calculation trainer.

It took me a couple of tries on challenge mode to complete the challenge (do all ten levels without mistakes).  I didn't quite get it the first pass.  The second pass I understood "solo chess" far better but still flubbed one or two.
