New Home Page

I think that the new home page trys to cram too much stuff onto one page  and I also don't like the reduced emphasis on the forums. I prefer the old home page. I realize that the emphasis of the home page is to attract new members and I don't know if this new one will or not.

I think it's okay. I also didn't like the reduced emphasis on the forums, but now that I've found the "recent forum posts" section (oddly next to videos) I suppose it's nicer. It might have been better if it was easier to see, but honestly who needs to see the name and picture of the last poster and number of posts?

If anything, I think it looks less "crammed" than the older one (even though there are more things on it) And the new logged-out page probably does a nice job of attracting new members.

My only other complaint is that it could be more functional especially in terms of the buttons on the top which honestly I don't see myself using.

Why put negative comments on something that you haven't even used much? Maybe after a while it gets more practical then the old homepage.

I think the new layout is excellent. Ignoring the top buttons (as they are a sort of 'header' we have Articles, which I always read when each one comes out, Videos, which is a daily click for me due to the amazingly large amount of great content chess.com keeps spewing out, and News, which I also frequent. Taking less precedence to these is Blogs, which I only click on when it takes my fancy.

Bringing up the rear we have Game Of The Day, which I am partial to analysing, Opening Of The Day, which I usually give a try against one of my friends OTB, and Vote Chess... which I don't use at all.

However, the layout is fantastic. Before, everything was all over the place- vote chess in the middle of the page, confusing columns with content here there and everywhere- now my eyes can simply scroll down the page, taking each feature as it comes. Of course, my eyes need to flick over to the right to observe the puzzle and poll, but we can't have it all! Smile

The previous home page was the most unique feature of chess.com, it encouraged members and visitors to the site to participate in  becoming part of the site other than just playing games .

The new frontpage is a great improvement in design and represents the site's great new features very well. Nice work -- much appreciated!

I prefer the old home page. Nothing wrong with the new one it's just the old one was perfect and needed no change.

it's natural for people to hate change, but i think the front page was changed for the better. I missed the old layout at first too, but i just had to get used to this new one.
