What do the crowns that you win in Vs computer count for? Do they accumulate somewhere?

I play my games as challenges without help, so i get 3 crowns everytime I win. I save my games manually, and I learn to prep against the Bot.

I don’t think there is a tally somewhere that specifies on your profile how many bot crowns you have accrued - shame really.

They do stack up on the Bots starting page, though. But more importantly, the Bots are great for trying out your improvement.

Middle game play is quite realistic, and instructive.

@deepgreene not sure if I missed it in the thread... what engine is used for the computer bots?

I have now beaten all the Bots up to the 1300 level. This is pure gold for improving, and for learning new traps and tricks.

@templeknight congrats.  keep practicing.  Do regular tactical puzzles.  I'm sure you'll improve.  Take your time to study the positions (a computer opponent never complains).

I play on a laptop with Windows 10 set to 1920x1080 with the recommended text size increase at 150%.  In Firefox, the area describing the bot takes up a disproportionate amount of space from the area below where you can choose which bot to play.  Please consider these layout changes.

The cartoon avatar is nice and all, but I'm still really just playing a computer.  So having that avatar displayed so prominently is a large chunk of the viewable space being taken up by superfluous information.

It'd also be nice it is says something like, "They love to play the Sicilian and kings Indian" or "Their knowledge of openings is limited and play by intuition." so we can ind bots that might play specific openings and styles.

Thanks!

The chess bots appear much weaker than their said ratings. I am a 1300 rating player and I defeated 1800 rated bots in 10 minutes.

Yeah I play a bot rated 2000 (Li), sometimes I win, but the opening skills of the bot are way worse than those of a human who is rated 2000 in classical chess and has done meticulous

opening preparation. That said, I do think that I have chess talent, because I have good chess

intuition, good capacity to calculate variations, and good opening memorization skills.

I hope to become a master one day.

I looked at your stats, and your Daily chess rating is 1708 as of February 9th 2021. Moreover, beating ONE bot once doesn't reveal any ratings. You can be ANYTHING between 1000 and 2000 with a Daily rating of 1700.

Note: It is against the Bots that ratings go this crazy.

What fun is it to play against a computer when there are so many real players on chess.com?

To believe that human emotions are scary

Sweet thoughts

I cannot find a way to play a timed game against the personality bots on the iOS app. I tried “New Game” from the home screen then selecting a game time and then choosing “Play Computer” but when the game opens there are no clocks.

How do I play a timed game against the personality bots?

Change it to Custom after choosing the bot and turn off any features you don't want and choose the time there.
