Opponents who refuse to resign

Reminds me not to ever ever ever get involved with long days time periods for moves. I'd wind up shooting myself in the head I'd be so frustrated about it!

One should know what he gets if the name of the game is "A very long tournament".
You have a conditional moves at your disposal, and game shouldn't last that long.
And if you can show the mating lines to your opponent, maybe he will resign.
"The worst part is that the lines are only going to finish by June next year if he continues at this rate."
That's not true. Look more closely.

Ok, the june part was a bit of an exaggeration only because when I made the conditional move lines this summer, I had a mate in 14, now there is a bit of change, but I remember the length of the lines, I didn't go back to check it.

I acknowledge that the name of the tournament is "A very long tournement" (Tournament is actually misspelled in the title) that I was going to be in a very long tournament. But a chess player should be responsible enough to resign if he is in a completely losing position. There is no need for him to waste my time by waiting 14 days, making his move, seeing my conditional move response and then skipping my game so that he can prolong the game.

I would love to be able to use shorter time controls, but I have a lot of work and there are days when I just can't keep up when I have more then ten games going on. In the summer, I was free and so I could keep up, but now I am not, so I'm forced to stick with longer time controls.

I'd say that you need not worry at all in this special case. I would have resigned the game quite some time ago if I had been your opponent, but in this case, it does not really have any hurtful consequences that your opponent took the unusual decision to still play on so far.
For one thing, this game will be over in very few moves only.
And in addition, nobody is going to press you for "not playing fast enough" in this tournament. This is designed to be a very long tournament.
And having a look at the other ongoing games in this tournament, there are many ongoing games of players who are very probably going to finish their games even much later than you are going to finish your second game with your opponent in your group. (For perfectly fine reasons, these players really take their time to analyze interesting games in which nobody is yet clearly winning or losing.)
Very probably, your games versus this opponent may later even have the nice side effect to shorten your waiting time until the next round of this really long tournament begins

thanks, I finally got a full answer. This makes a lot more sense and actually answers my question.
I'm currently playing three games right now, so if you care to look and judge with of my three games is hopelessly won for me, you can. Trust me, its an incredibly difficult task.
Now, to my point. I've been playing an opponent since FEBRUARY of this year and even though the tournament is a long 14 day per move tournament, he has been playing with extremely uncalled-for behavior. He has been making one move, every 14 days. He literally makes two moves per month, and I've been waiting since early summer for him to make moves that I've had in conditional moves since JUNE. The worst part is that the lines are only going to finish by June next year if he continues at this rate.
If you have seen this game, and can sympathize with me, can you tell me whether it is polite to ask my opponent to resign because its not helping anyone that our second game in the tournament will only happen once this finishes.
If you didn't want to play games with 14 days per move, why did you enter the tournament in the first place? It is well within his right to use the full 14 days time, and no, it is not even bad etiquette.
