Politeness on chess.com

I've played quite a few games here on chess.com and am always impressed by the manners of my opponents.  Too many times on any other site the forums are filled with explicitives towards other members with complete disgregard that they are targeting an individual.

I really cannot think of another site where the level of respect has been so high for anonymous persons.

Thank you.

Its because we are all here to play and learn the game of chess.

that's completely unacceptable, especially on a classy site like this. I would have reported that to administration under "report abuse."

I must say that I don't agree with the 99 %. In about 20 % of my games, I have been confronted with rudeness, either my opponent left the clock running while losing, or he/she insulted me quite harshly. In addition, about 80 % of the players never answer to polite sentences like Hello, well done, good game, etc.

That's the internet. The anonimity it offers tends to bring out the worst in people. I'm also a boxing fan and one site in particular I visit often and post on, has an absolutely staggering amount of abuse and insults. Even the so-called moderators themselves participate in this. And I have to admit that one can easily get carried away by that spirit and become less civilized than one would consider himself to be, if one is not carefullEmbarassed.

The trick is not to let it bother you. And in contrast to that boxing forum/site, here you can actually try to whoop those guys a***s and still say hi to your wife without a black eye or missing teethSealed.

What I miss here is, saying: have a nice game... I (unless I am very tired) always say that. The responses are mostly good, but I have yet to meet the first person to say it first to me. To me that is like the shaking of hands.
