Puzzle of the Day

Sometimes I don't understand the puzzle of the day. Today is another example of this. I don't see how it was solved. White didn't seem to be in any better position at the end of the puzzle versus the beginning. I'm not a chess expert but I'm by no means a novice either. I've seen this a few times over the past month. Is it me? Am I missing something?

Then, can you show the diagram. We don't know what you are talking about. The diagram has more image in our minds. So this doesn't make sense until you show a diagram. But'll be weird if it'll be days if this is not answered though.

Is there a way post screenshots of both the beginning and the end of the puzzle here? I'm not easily finding a way to do that.

Alternatively, you could look at the daily chess puzzle on this app before midnight to see what I'm referring to.

I think I got it now. I looked in a different part of these forums for explanations. Check out this #chess forum: 3/15/2018 - A. Wotawa, 1938 - https://www.chess.com/forum/view/daily-puzzles/3-15-2018-a-wotawa-1938 via @chesscom

You do not screenshot. If you see a little board that is black and white that is a diagram and you can click it and the diagram will pop up. You can set up positions and make moves or puzzles. For the screenshot, can’t be done on computer, only on iPad and iPhone.

Thanks Reggie. Unfortunately, I don't see this little black and white board. Maybe this is something that only comes up when using chess.com on a PC? I'm not sure. I'm using it currently only on my Android phone.

It's a little thing near the left corner. Anyways, I'm running out of words, so good luck.

There's nothing near the upper left for me, just the three lined menu button for the app. I forgot to mention that I'm not yet a paying participant here. Perhaps functionality is increased if I'm a paid subscriber? The other possibility I'm seeing is that using this on an Android device might be reducing my functionality. I'm really not sure.

Well, gg. I can't help you.

I found the puzzle you mentioned. Black's rook will be chased by white's king endlessly - for example, in the ending position, Rh8 allows Kg7!, returning to the position after move 2. After Rh5 there is Kg6, after Re5 there is Kf6, after Re8 there is Kf7, and so on.

Oh yeah. That was a pretty cool one.

Finally, I know what someone was talking about.

Thank you very much, it makes total sense now.
