I think it's silly. It doesn't register on my "Things I Care About" radar, however. I think it's just too small.
"first": care/don't care?

I don't even read the daily puzzle comments.
It's too bad because sometimes people actually post good things.
+1

It always makes me wonder what could possibly drive a person to post something as pointless and inane as that.

How about those who are always posting "EASY", like everybody else has to be told. Like I explained to them in the daily puzzle thread: Of course it's easy. They're always easy at the first part of the week, then get progressively harder. I'm sure they already know this, so why do they feel compelled to keep posting "easy" over, and over, and over again whenever Sunday rolls around?

I think its really annoying because you have to dig through all the moronic comments of "first!" and "easy" before you can find anything of remote worth.

It's like McCain vs Obama , I voted for Obama but secretly I didn't care whether McCain won instead , oops we're not supposed to talk politics

People who post "First!" don't really bother me. What bothers me is the people who post "Second!" or "Third!", because being first is really the only thing that matters. Which means I guess I'm also bothered by people who posted "First!" when they're really seventh, and people who post "First?" because they lack self-confidence and don't really deserve to be first. And people who post "First page!" REALLY chap my hide, because that's like saying, "I'm not good enough to actually be first, but I'm going to act like I'm first anyway to make myself look awesome when I'm really not, because bragging about posting on the first page is like bragging about getting a 78% on an exam." People who post "99th!" when they're really 23rd are lame, but people who post "47th" when they really ARE 47th are hilarious.
Okay, put me down as a "care".
I think people who post "First" are annoying and should be banned. As should every else deliberately posting something that doesn't contribute anything to the conversation. Such as "Nth" or "easy" or somesuch.
Now, if you actually make a useful comment, and add that it's the first comment, you may be forgiven. After all, you have contributed. If the only thing you did was say "first", you have contributed nothing. If you actually wait diligently and patiently for the topic/puzzle to come around just so you can say "first"... You should seriously get away from your computer and rethink your priorities. Maybe even see a specialist.

I think its really annoying because you have to dig through all the moronic comments of "first!" and "easy" before you can find anything of remote worth.
I agree, although I don't really care, because all the first comments keep me from seeing any giveaways or hints accidentally when I am trying to solve the puzzle.

I say let people have their fun; there's still opportunity for expressing erudite insight or asking questions. If we cut out the banter we damage the image of chess.
i dont care let them have their 2 seconds in the spot light and just ignore the posts. the more people talk about it the more people are going to do it

look come on its the same as on anythin. take youtube as the prime example. the first 100 comments of every video is 'first' first' 'second' first' 'not first' 'firrrrssssstt yeessss :O' 'omg first comment first view i am awesome' i mean your not going to stop ppl from doing it....which reminds me.. we should have a thumbs up/down rating thing for the forums. one for spam too to help with the amount of that too that ppl complain about... hmm..
I don't really care about "first", but what does tick me off is the hordes of mindless morons complaining about supposed flaws in the puzzle without even beginning to attempt to dream of having the merest shadow of the slightest inkling of understanding about the puzzle. Which is a pity, because I'm also often interested in figuring out the variations in the daily puzzles; and while there'll usually be reasonable, intelligent people putting up analysis, I end up having to dig through piles of crud to get to the analysis.
TL;DR: NEEEEERDRAAAAAAGE!
If you visit this page please post your answer (if possible - if not then don't post anything pointless) because I have 1000+ views and 60+ comments. Of those 60+ comments, most of them aren't even answers.
As many of you have probably seen, on the daily chess puzzles, there is nearly always someone who puts "first" or "first post!" or something similar to that.
Some people don't care about it and think it's fine if someone writes "first". Others find it annoying and think that it's stupid and care when people write "first".
All people have different opinions and that is fine but what do the people of chess.com generally think?
So,"First!": Care/don't care? Please post your answer (care/don't care) and when we have enough posts I will work out the percentage and keep on doing so if more people post.
Thank you.
Okay, so out of the first 63 posts the results stand at:
Care:29%
Don't care:30%
unclear answers/no answer/neutral:40%
So at the moment people who have put unclear answers/no answers/neutral have it. This annoys me because this doesn't help this topic at all. If you haven't put a definite, clear answer then please go back and do so. I understand the one "neutral" vote but the people who have just put stupid things like 'first','55th','16th','oops' are not helping.
I don't mind you putting an explanation or a long comment but please can you put your answer clearly at the top or bottom of your comment. Thank You.
Thanks to everyone for your support (who has given proper answers),
Henster
