Rainbow emoji

Hi all, the other topic was locked due to a reason I don't quite understand, let's hope this one already complies with the rules!

maybe it is a bit off topic posting something like that, but I cant help but wonder why chess.com would allow people to show their sex preferences?

This is a chess website and as such I dont see why would sex need to be involved here?

Is this because of the times we live in and chess.com is afraid they will get shut down by the woke mobs? Is this what it is?

I've been seeing this a lot lately and it makes me wonder whether too much "progress" mentality could end up regressing societies....

If chess.com does this out of pure compassion to the homosexuals, then why do they discriminate all other sexual preference groups? You know zoophiles, dendrophiles etc?

I apologize if I'm not posting this in the correct place. If this is the case pls refer me to the correct forum, thanks!

Why on earth do you care? What harm does it do you? How on earth does this make you feel discriminated against? I think I’ll change my flair to a rainbow just because. Good lord, some people.
FilipShaha

Well, for starters, I'm straight and I feel discriminated against as I don't see any "straight preference" emojis...You allow it for one, then you allow it for all! Otherwise, you are discriminating!

NikkiLikeChikki
Clearly you have a problem with gay people. You aren’t suffering any sort of discrimination, you just don’t like it. How is this threatening you? Are you afraid of playing chess with gay people? If it bothers you so much, just change your screen name to FilipTheStraightDude.

Discrimination involves unfair treatment, like employment or the use of certain public places. I’m not even gay and I have zero problem with it. I find the troll emoji much more annoying.

FilipShaha

Clearly, you cannot make any educated guesses as to whether I feel discriminated against or how I feel about any people (whether they are ones that like to shove their private lives in peoples' faces, constantly, at every corner, every media, every forum..or not.)

My topic's topic is about the unfair treatment that chess.com is subjecting its users, by providing freedom of sexual expression to only about 5% of them (by official estimates).

NilsIngemar

It is a religious slash political subject.

NilsIngemar

So if something is let's say wrong, but it makes you more popular, then it is right?

flyingpuppydog

I find it interesting that you assume the rainbow emoji has anything to do with "sexual expression." Sure, it can be associated with LGBTQ+, but rainbows abound in society just because they're pretty. I think you may be spending too much time thinking about people's "sex preferences" instead of playing chess.

flyingpuppydog

If you genuinely believe chess.com is being discriminatory, you should contact the company and make your concerns known. Posting in a forum is simply argument-baiting.

krazeechess

How does a rainbow emoji have anything to do with what you said? I always thought the rainbow was a light reflection meh.png

NilsIngemar

It depends on the color pattern. If it follows roy-g-biv pattern then it is light refraction.  If it is not then it is likely a symbol for the gay/lesbian community.

Rosemary321,

this is a fair point, untrue one, but still fair...the rainbow emoji has everything to do with the sexual expression of 99% of the people who use it and you can verify this easily by asking them.

You can see this in pretty much every single website nowadays, whether job board, social forums, news outlets...

I'd love to be spending more time playing chess, but unfortunately I need to deal with this.

To answer more elaborately NikkiLikeChikki's question why I care about that, well maybe she/he will start caring also when he/she has children and they start going to school...I tell you, its not only the rainbow emojis they teach them in there nowadays...Unfortunately, today the personal feelings of a small group of people can indeed alter science..

So, when I started observing these notions in my favorite website (chess.com) where I play my favorite game (chess) I decided to post this topic knowing well, as Epiloque mentioned, that not only the topic but myself will probably get locked for good.

I have already asked the website about that, let's see what they say..

I am not sure why allowing people to decide for themselves also involves others believing it is acceptable behavior. Making it viewed as good and acceptable is a step too far.

Ephesians 4:32

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

View a rainbow for what it is...
“I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life” (Genesis 9:13-15).

So are we to start quoting the Bible now? Or are we only allowed to post acceptable parts?

One of those reasons for the destruction of the earth was sexual immorality.  Later cities were destroyed by fire and brimstone for the same reason.

I am just presenting the other side of the story for a more truthful view of what the Bible actually says.
