I was just curious on the subject.  I was wanting to know how well the ratings on the site seem to correlate to USCF and Fide ratings, as I know there is a huge disparity on mine.  My rating here is astronomical compared to USCF and even my live rating where I try out my new openings and whims in fast games is much higher.  The players I play in over the board games at my real life level however are a true challenge to me and they are all rated low, the same as I.  GMs, IMs and the such here however do not seems to me to be hugely over their norms (2200-300ish as is generaly expected) it seems to me.  Is this a shared phenomena or an oddity for a small group?  Thoughts

First, no two rating system results need be the same, as the players in each pool are often vastly different ... certainly they are here versus OTB.

Secondly, I wouldn't compare your turn-based rating to your OTB rating ... the disparity between those two is larger than it is between Live and OTB.

However, your Blitz/Standard Live Chess ratings are only about 100 points on average above your stated USCF ... which is less than 1 standard deviation in most rating systems ... and your actual USCF strength could be a bit different than your rating.

Here's the results of a mini-study I conducted. It might prove interesting to you.

Fascinating study and much appreciated.  Thank you for putting in that kind of time.
