ratings

Hi

I am a new chess player, and I started at a rating of 1200 but is this a normal rating for a newbie or is this just an avarage that people get started on and then droped or increased to the correct rating?

with a newbie I mean that I had a chess set when I was about 10, played a few games then but not much. never been a member of chess clubs. bought a board two weeks ago, played 3 games in real life since and now joined chess.com because i felt it was fun and want to learn a bit more and perhaps join a club eventually. 

I have a score in 3 chess.com games, but 2 of them the oponent I believe started the wrong kind of game and stoped after 1!!!! move. I also have a few games that the oponent is aproaching the time limt (10 hours or so left of 72 hours) still a lot of time ofcourse but I am "afraid" that my rating might skyrocket and I don't get oponents (for a while) that it is fun to play against. It is the most fun when you are somewhat equal so it becomes somewhat of a fight and don't get run over by the oponents if you understand what i mean.
