I don't mind getting paid that to have random angry people shooting me with their keyboards.

Most moderators are volunteers and don't get paid for moderation activities, for the most part. I know some events used to get scheduled moderators in chat, and those were compensated. I don't really know if that's the case anymore.

There are a couple of higher level moderators that are staff, but I can guarantee you they aren't making that kind of money, or anywhere close to it.

I think they get like 19 cent commission per ticket and they expect you to resolve 2 tickets per minute. So if you are meeting the quota you  will earn a little over 25 dollars an hour.

Moderators don't work tickets. Staff do, and there are paid hourly or get a salary.

Actually staff work the more complicated tickets. Chess.com contracts out to smaller companies that hire people as independent contractors to work on the easier complaints. I had a temp job for one of the companies that they contract out to. Basically the website AI or whatever will flag suspicious activity like multiple accounts and then you as a contractor will either handle it or send it to regular staff if the ticket is too complicated.

No they don't, at least not in general. They have dedicated support staff to work tickets, dedicated staff for abuse, etc.

While it's possible they did that in the past, might have when the pandemic and the Queen's Gambit release, or for staffing shortages, that isn't standard.
