Here are two examples from my own games. (I have many, but I don't know how to search for them.)
I'm not sure about tactical themes, but if you want to check games in certain positions that might have these tactical themes, explorer is a good way to find out certain positions either you or grandmasters get to.
Interesting idea.
Premium members can use the game explorer to search their own games for specific lines, but it's hard to search for concepts such as playing e4 before move 10 in a specific opening. The game archive filters don't include any options other than general information such as the rating of the opponent and the result of the game.
Adding some more powerful search tools to the game archive could be very useful.
Some ideas for new filters in the game archive that might be useful, that could do some of what you're looking for:
* Search by opening
* Search by specific move (such as h4) played prior to move ___ (for example, to find games where someone played h4 in the opening). Be able to filter separately to games where I did it, where my opponent did it, or where either player did it.
* Search by specific piece being moved prior to move number ____, such as a queen moving in the first five moves. Again, be able to filter separately to games where I did it, my opponent did it, or where either player did it.
* Search by number of moves
* Search by time control - when people play a mix of time controls, it would be nice to get just their 3|2 games or just their 5|0 games rather than have them mixed together. I personally would use this one somewhat frequently.
* Search by remaining material on the board at the end of the game. Perhaps by total piece value, or by specific pieces (for example, the ability to search for a game where I still have both rooks and my queen), or by the different in piece value between the two sides. This could be used to find games that were ended in the middlegame or endgame, or to find games where you won despite having a material disadvantage (perhaps due to a successful sacrifice).
Chess.com would never even attempt to add anything like this. But hey, at least there's a new menu! That should keep the chess.com haters off for a few days...

Thanks. Yeah, I already know how to search specific positions and move orders.
Hi,
Is there a way to search chess games played here for certain tactical themes, especially in specific openings? The example I'm currently trying to explore is early e4 tactics in the White side of the Slav/Semi-Slav. I'll post a few examples later.
