There's a whole thread starting 5 years ago on this very phenomena. The most recent entry was only 13 Hours ago. We have poltergeists. We are not alone.
Someone took over my Guest game

So, after I posted this question. Within an hour, someone took over one of my Guest games. Then, when the take-over player ended up resigning to the opponent, a whole new game started. Maybe it was a "rematch." But then after that game completed, with the takeover-player winning, another game started. Then I discovered I could interfere with the game and I started moving the queen into vulnerable positions. The takeover-player would resign after losing the queen.
So, I logged out, cleared my cache, restarted my browser and started playing again. Now, I've been taken over again.
So, either I have been hacked by a pretty good chess player or Chess.com has been hacked. Or, Chess.com has employees or trusted moderators who are watching and taking over Guest games.
I've been pondering why they might do that. Maybe they just want to show me how dumb I am. Maybe they want to help me to become better. Maybe I offended them in some way. Perhaps by aborting games that didn't match my study-criteria. Maybe something else.
I have not seen it happen while I am logged in playing as my normal account. It has only happened while I play as a guest.
I made a video of it. If anyone at Chess.com support is interested in seeing the video, let me know.
Now really, I don't mind it. The only real concern to me would be that potentially my use of Chess.com has subjected me to some type of vulnerability and my computer is now compromised. Other than that, no real harm is happening as far as I can tell.
I would like to hear what support has to say about it. Purely from a business standpoint, if I were a manager there, I would not want my employees or trusted users taking over games precisely for the reason I just mentioned. It could have an alarming effect to someone who might record it and post the video and pose the question, "Is it safe to play chess at Chess.com?"

Has anyone else had this experience? I was playing a game as a guest. I was down a little in material I think. I went to play a move but instead of the move I intended to play, a different move as made. I thought it was strange. Then when my turn came again, another of my pieces was moved. I realized that someone had taken over my game. I continued to watch and someone else continued to play my pieces. Eventually, after maybe 8 or 10 moves, my opponent resigned.
Has anyone else had anything like this happen? Whoever took over my game was a better chess player than me. It was a guest game so there was no real consequence. The only negative was for me. Wow! Someone was watching my game and became so disgusted, they took over! I expect this is only possible if the takeover-player was either a Chess.com employee or moderator or something.
chess.com employees and moderators are not allowed to do that. perhaps it was a bug and two people got the same Guest account???
