costelus, I overlooked a mate in 2 the other day myself and I'm nearly in this magic 200 world class players you spreak of lol. I agree people even 2200 fide shouldn't play perfectly, but my point is they are not doing so here. There are some people who are playing perfect games I know, indeed they can play 50 or more games mistake free at a time moving within minutes, but my point is that most are not and so a good OTB player can survive if they put the effort in and use databses etc and analyse on a board as opposed to just playing like OTB a couple of mins per move and all analysis in their heads. There are some cheats but the majority are fair and so most games are fair. I play a lot of games with players over 2100 chess.com, most games I analyse after, there are always inaccuracies with few exceptions.
Special forum for discussion of cheating
Ok, let's make thing clear. I don't say that the top players here play perfectly. No, probably those who do this are banned. But many of them play much much better than a world champion.
I once compared a game between two players here and a game from the correspondence world championship final from 70's. The difference is stunning for me, the correspondence world champions must have been really weak players :))
As for the game I posted, do you want me to believe that a player rated ~2650 here (so basically at least FM strength) lacks elementary knowledge about opening, allowing mate in 3 or 4 moves? Or another one, at the same level, does not know about opposition? Sorry, I will never believe that! Maybe I'm dumb, but that's my opinion, feel free to think whatever you want.

I think it's a good idea because a lot of people are interested in this specific topic, and it would organize things much better.
However, if Chess.com were to create a Forum for "Cheating" or "Cheaters" it would sort of look like they were either encouraging or condoning the act of cheating =/
If they created a Forum like "Join Here to Complain About and Ridicule Cheaters" then they look a little bit paranoid and hostile =/

I don't think I'm exagerrating at all. Compared to some players here, Tal for instance would be a poor pathetic kid, who would be always defeated. It looks quite suspicious to me to be even 2100-2200 and to play perfectly. It looks even more suspicious when you are like 1700 or have no rating at all and play better than a super-gm.
Please say you're joking..

No, I fully agree with your examples, which is why I gave the example of such a high rated player who clearly doesn't understand chess (opposition), your example was equally strong, that wasn't an oversight, it was a series of almost deliberate blunders. So having read your revised comments saying that many play as well or better than GM's I agree. Just saying that not all the top 200 or even most are cheating which is what I thought you meant originally.

I think he doesn't mean that people rated 1700 here play like a super GM, but that there are people here who state a FIDE or USCF rating of 1700 and play like a GM. Indeed I have a friend here who is titled but doesn't have it in his profile. He played someone here and they guy easily drew against him...and understand my friend was trying to win. The opponent gives a ELO rating of 1500 and his first 20 or so games here show him losing to chess.com players 1500 or so. Now he can play like a GM?
I stated clearly: some players with 1700-1800 Fide play like super-GM's here. Of course I don't think that all players rated here in top 200 cheat. But I personally have serious concerns about many of them. And there are some I have no concerns about them whatsoever.

thank you for the clarification, in fairness your first posting in this forum did not say that, hence my initial responses. Here it is again :-)
I think there is one big question: how come that about 200 players here get to play much better than Tal, Carlsen or Anand? Are they the future world champions and we don't know?

I made it into the top 100 briefly, when I had my shiny nice 2400+ rating, but then it all came crashing down.
And darn it, MM78, this is all after you suggested I play fewer games! :-)
Disclaimer: my FIDE rating is in the range 2220-2240, and I do not use computers to help me play.

i made the top 20 for day or so :-( now I can't get on the first few pages. Ozzie maybe you should go back to playing more cannon fodder?
Good luck getting chessnetwork to accept a game with you at quick!

The only way that would happen is if I created a new account, played some bad 1 0 with it, and then got a game against him.

peter, no, he didn't understand the principle that was my point, never mind the name. I had my king on the queening square and still we went on. I fully understand that players might play forks, rook lifts , x-rays whatever or god forbid all the openings by name without knowing what they are called but I find it funny that someone can play expert level or above and since this person is still over 2600 here and not know something that beginners learn. I mean as one friend said to me when i showed them the game after "Isn't that the first thing you learn after how to mate with K and Q or R v K?"
I had held the distant opposition from when I transitioned from the rook and p ending, fair enough he makes me play on, but we ended up here and still went on for a lot more moves. I reckon most club players might have trouble perhaps in a blitz ending but with time and books/internet available would know this is a draw. Maybe I'm being unreasonable.
