What are your goals, how strong are you, and what are you looking for?
Study/Training Partner
Daniel,
My goal is to improve my game, and ultimately get to FIDE Master Strength.
My actual playing strength is around 2000, but I just don't play enough.
I alos need to study and train more.
What I am looking for is in the description of the post.

Yes, I was looking for details. I might be interested, depending on what exactly you're looking for.
My current USCF rating is 1750. My FIDE provisional is about 1900, I think. My actual strength is probably something like 1900, although I haven't played a rated tournament in several years.
My goals are mainly studying the opening. I find that to be very tedious and difficult. In particular, I'd like to build up my repertoire. I play 1. Nf3 with White (aiming for either a Catalan or English); the Caro-Kann, Nimzo-Queen's-Indian with Black. I'm thinking about switching to the Accelerated Dragon against e4.
If you're looking for more of a general study partner, then I'm probably not the right guy for you. But if you're looking to build an opening repertoire, and you think there might be some way we could coordinate that, then I'd be interested.
i can coordinate opening studies, resources that relate to it, and tactics in it. Don't forget miniatures. What is your plan?

Yeah, I'm just sort of confused what you mean by "resources." I mean, I have many, many books, but I'm not sure how we could share those.
I think the most useful thing would be to play tons of games to get really familiar with all the variations and themes in selected openings, and to analyze and discuss them afterwards.
So we could pick a "model game" (or a set of model games), discuss those, and play several games in those variations trying to identify key themes. After we feel comfortable that we know how to play it, we could move on to another variation.
If it works out, we could expand our collaboration to studying the tactics or endgame stuff. But I feel like I'm already fairly good at positional play and endgames. My main interest is in developing a strong opening repertoire right now.
Daniel,
I was refering to Suggested books, e-books, databases, and miniatures.
Yes, going-over games is helpful.
I thought this post may be good for players to exchange knowledge, expertise, and experience about what they did to improve.
Orangeishblue:
I was referring to my over the board play.
Do me a favor- if you don't have anything respectful to post, then don't post at all!
Daniel,
There is a recent game at the Las Vegas Chess Festival that featured the Nf3 opening in Nick Raptis-Varuzhan Akobian where black won in 24 moves.

Hello WCP, I am 1599 FIDE with PTR of over 1850 in my few previous tournaments. My standard rating here is quite low, but only because I play mainly 30 here instead of what im used to 90 + 30. My vacation has started and I am preparin for 2 FIDE tournaments. I would also like to have a study partner. My program, is to study the opening I play, until I no all the main lines and side lines and know the basic ideas for other dubious lines. I also do Chesstempo at least 1 hour a week to improve calculation. Also I do basic skills vs. the computer, eg. K+B+N vs. K, so as not to become rusty. I also have several books that I read.

Your OTB strength is 2000.. in which rating system? USCF,FIDE?
He said his potential strength is 2000, not his rating. (If he played "enough" I guess it wouldn't be potential but actual).

Send me a message, and not here.
Let's get to studying and Training.
I think we can raise our ratings to 2200 or even 2300.
He did say "actual playing strength" not potential. I'm saying after 30 years of being 1900+ uscf. All I can say, 2000 not a chance that is your "actual strength".
No, I said my Playing Strength. Playing Strength is not always = current rating for various reasons.
The trouble is you being a troll and imnsulting me.
The fact is you didn't quote me corerctly, as I said around 2000.
Regardless, this post is not for people like yourself who is trying to strat trouble, but for civil people who want to help other people as study partners.
Please don't send me any more messages here at this post.
Thank you.

I quoted you directly and you contradict me? There is some real trouble with reality going on in your head.
No, you did not quote me corectly, as I said to someone else, "My actual playing strength is around 2000, but I just don't play enough."
The reality is you are being a troll to start some kind of trouble with me by insulting me!
Do me a favor and don't post any more messages to me, because your comments are not appreciated!
Thank you.

I am looking for a Study/Training Partner. This would include a person interested in helping each other analyze games, share training resources, and other related methodologies. Is anyone interested?
