What is pg 404?
The 404 page is hilarious.

I really dislike it and find it disrespectful. I love many games and puzzles. Checkers is far from being trivial, nor is it a poor cousin of chess. Chess grandmasters would lose to Checkers Grandmasters.
Jose Capablanca was as interested in checkers as chess and was World Champion at both. He is even responsible for the 10 x 10 variant. And, I would far rather be able to play checkers here than any of the chess variants available.

Interesting, but calling it hilarious is too much.
In this video, Grandmaster Vasily Ivanchuk is beaten twice in a row by a draughts player. He loses the first game in 2 minutes. Look a the combination at the end of the second game that makes him resign.

Saying that games like Checkers, Go, Gomoku, Othello or even Connect4 are 'solved' so enthusiastic humans shouldn't play them is a nonsense.
A strong player will beat a weaker player. The chances of a reasonably strong checkers player drawing with a computer are pretty much nil.
The point is though, that it looks poor for a chess (I agree, the best game ever) website to be demeaning other games. It is like a tennis player telling a weaker player that he should stick to badminton. It reflects badly.

No one going to talk about how this one is far better than the page it replaced? The goat was annoying and almost inviting trolls.
The checkers one is humorous and we need more of that in a mentally-stressful game like chess. I'm okay with a smirk or chuckle at seeing this new page, but perhaps "hilarious" is a bit overstating.
p.s. My father and grandfather were both checkers champions, but I'm still always going to poke fun at checkers and consider chess to be superior

The goat was the GOAT though! I loved it!
