The best browser: Chrome - Download it now!

Hands down the very best browser is Chrome from Google. I have been using it now exclusively for the last few weeks and it is AMAZINGLY fast. Stunning how much faster it is than Firefox. I used to really promote Firefox, but Chrome is WORLDS faster. Sites appear immediately. Pages are zippy. Live chess is amazing.

I have been using chrome for months and when I first got it yes it did exactly what you said ... now though I am not too sure

Sorry But I find Firefox way better Google Chrome for me is really laggy :( Can't even load the pages right with it.

Problem with Chrome is that it is very slow when 100 tabs are open (like I always routinely do on Firefox xD) since each tab is it's own process!

Chrome isn't good for people who like to play with the browser settings like proxy filters. Moreover it's not WinXP-friendly and has no support for Microsoft Silverlight or Adobe Flash.

Chrome's UI is too simple for someone like me but if you are not as extreme in computing as me go for it! Otherwise stick with FF 3.6 (which has GPU-accelerated page rendering xD). IE has no extensions and is the slowest of the 3 browsers.

100 tabs? instanity. 

not win-XP friendly? i'm on XP with no problems.

I hate IE. Google chrome isn't connecting. I'm using firefox. Suggestions on how to get chrome to work

erik, chrome has too many bugs. seriously...it's too young of a browser. they're trying to make it the best too fast. come on-version 5 after a year? and still, i encounter several problems while using it. do you expect us to trust that it will be secure? besides, all other browsers have stable versions for mac.

besides, firefox has the best extensions of all the browsers. chrome does have a few, but nothing can compare to firefox in that area. and really, firefox 3.6 is fast enough for live chess. and on that note, can we get an update on how live chess 3 is coming along? firefox's UI is also better, in my opinion. much simpler.

oh, and opera is faster than chrome. just saying.

I know it is the fastest browser - its technology is also the best. But I had downloaded and installed - then uninstalled Chrome three times. It was full of bugs.There were always some websites that did not work properly. In the earlier versions even chess.com did not work properly. Everyone now-a-days is following in the footsteps of Microsoft - release beta version as the final version, and then release service packs...

In one version the updater crashed and repeatedly froze my computer. The updaters hog too much resources compared to Firefox.

Google does that! I am a fan of comics (laugh all you want), so in iGoogles I have 30+ comics displayed - only Google Chrome can display that page correctly! All other browsers run out of resources at the bottom, and do not display all the comics!

Also in iGoogle you can change the theme only in Google Chrome - not in any other browser!

or you can go to about:config in firefox, search pipe and set the first option to true and the second to 20, and voila: firefox now loads many more things at the same time.  Have to admit that chrome is better at live chess though.  The add-ons are what what keep me with firefox. The space below the address bar is also a great place to keep favorites, a feature that chrome does not have.

What sort of background reporting ("phoning home") does Chrome do that other browsers do not?

Everybody always gushes about how fast Google chrome is, but really, what do I care about shaving a few milliseconds off of my web browsing experience? I don't use Firefox because of its speed. The true speed of the Internet will always be limited by the bandwidth your connection allows you, even if Google chrome makes it SEEM faster.

I think I can speak for everyone when I say that I use Firefox because of the plug-ins, extensions, grease monkey scripts, and other sets of unbelievable functionality that can be added in at any time in order to customize the Internet to my exact wishes. I can do literally ANYTHING with Firefox. Remember, you can "browse the web" in any browser, even Internet Explorer. What sets Firefox apart from the rest is the ability to CUSTOMIZE your browsing.

I use them all :P but chrome as too many bugs actually it does not even load anymore in my pc so I have to use a portable version. Ill stick with FF Chrome and chromium really are faster but they are full of bugs :(
