Hello once again everyone!

This weekend is a special event that will be relayed in LIVE Chess on the Analysis boards that I will attempt to cover in my blog at the personal request of one of its participants.  Cool

IMs David Pruess and Danny Rensch, Hosts of the weekly show on Chess.com/TV Pardon our Blunders, will be playing in an interesting little event that takes place this Saturday and Sunday at the Shelby School in Tonto Village, Arizona.

Who are their opponents? GMs Alex Yermolinsky (L) and Suat Atalik (R).

This event will be played in Double Schevinengen Style, which means Danny and David will be playing each GM with each color. Here are the starting times: (all times Pacific) (And here is a link for the time zone conversions)

  Saturday, Round 1 -- 10 AM      Round 2 -- 4 PM
  Sunday, Round 1 --   10 AM       Round 2 -- 4 PM

The games will be USCF Rated and will be taking place at the Shelby School, a school rich in chess history and of which Danny is a proud product. The School has won multiple State and National Chess Championships and in 1998, Danny was the captain of the team. In that year, the team won the K-3, K-6 & K-9 Championships. That 1998 team was the only team in Scholastic chess history to achieve that amazing feat.

To learn a little more about the Shelby School and Danny's involvement with it, check out his personal ACEChess (American Chess Events LLC.) website's Mission Statement, which you can find hereCool

Now the reason for this event is because "Yermo" and Atalik are driving through Arizona and heading towards Las Vegas for the Las Vegas International Chess Festival, which takes place from June 9th-12th. Danny, who is playing at this tournament, which is his first tournament since David's Berkeley event, wants to get a little warm up and preparation in for Vegas and David will be joining him in Arizona as he is flying in from California.

For those who want to attend the event and possibly stay overnight whether you're local or out of state, the Kohls Ranch Lodge Resort is 2 minutes up the road from Tonto Village, Arizona (15 Miles Northeast of Payson Arizona), practically right down the street from the school. Cool

Time controls for this event are 40 moves in 90 Minutes with a 30-second increment throughout with a 30-minute addition at move 40. So it should be pretty exciting and up tempo.

As I mentioned in the beginning, the games will be covered on the analysis boards in LIVE Chess and I will attempt to cover an event like this for the first time. I will attempt to get the PGNs and post them in the same way I did with the Candidates Tournament. If I can't get them that way through the analysis boards, Danny will send them to me and I will include them in the blogs post-match. So wish me luck!  Cool
